ADHD Summer Camp for Teens

Teens living with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) don’t just deal with stereotypical symptoms like difficulty concentrating or fidgeting. ADHD affects every aspect of life, from school to relationships to mental health. Early support and treatment can help teens manage their symptoms and build effective coping skills. An ADHD summer camp can be the perfect opportunity for teens to learn and practice these skills in a supportive and understanding environment.

Family First now offers a co-ed partial hospitalization program (PHP) for boys and girls ages 13–17. Our teen PHP summer program offers support for clients living with ADHD, unresolved trauma, and other behavioral or emotional struggles. With summer break in full swing, you don’t have to worry about your child falling behind. In fact, this could be the opportunity they need to get ahead. ADHD Occurs on a Spectrum

Many people associate neurodivergent disorders or neurodiversity with autism. However, the neurodiversity spectrum is vast and includes ADHD. Teens with ADHD have brains that work differently. While there is nothing wrong with their cognition, they likely have difficulty conforming to the neurotypical expectations of society.

Neurotypical expectations essentially draw boundaries around how someone should think, process, learn, and create. People with ADHD often have difficulty with focus, attention to detail, time management, and organization when they are confined to these boundaries. This does not mean they are less intelligent or incapable of succeeding; it means that they may require different methods of support and learning.

Neurodivergent Summer Camp Support

Getting treatment for your teen when they receive a diagnosis of ADHD or show severe signs of inattention, hyperactivity, and/or impulsivity can help them learn how to work with their cognitive framework. Summer treatment for teens with ADHD in Family First’s PHP helps teach skills like:

  • Time management
  • Organization
  • Self-awareness
  • Emotional regulation
  • Social skills
  • Mindfulness

These skills can help teens develop new strengths and work within their neurodiversity while pursuing a summer of fun and growth. The Family First team may also work with your teen and family to discuss medication management plans that can be adjusted to meet their needs.

With a staff-to-client ratio of 3:1 and more than 120 years of combined clinical experience, our team provides personalized treatment and attention to each teen at our center. Your teen is safe and supported during day treatment and returns home each evening.

Treatment in a Safe and Supportive Environment

Without having to commute to school and do homework from school, your teen has space to settle into Family First’s PHP this summer. Our co-ed program offers access to therapists and psychiatrists who can help manage the symptoms of ADHD and identify any underlying issues that may be contributing to their struggles.

Programming includes evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), family therapy, and behavioral support that can help your teen learn how to manage their symptoms and communicate effectively. Our staff is trained to support teens with ADHD in a safe and non-judgmental environment, allowing them to focus on personal growth and development.

We also incorporate group activities and experiential therapies to help teens learn and practice these skills in a natural, fun, and supportive setting. By participating in an engaging, inclusive, and understanding community, teens with ADHD can build confidence and resilience.
