Teen in Xanax addiction treatmentXanax, a popular benzodiazepine (benzo) medication, can provide relief for anxiety and panic symptoms. However, it can be highly addictive and is not typically prescribed to teens. Misusing Xanax can lead to long-term effects, including life-threatening withdrawal symptoms. Teen Xanax addiction is especially dangerous since their developing brains and bodies are more susceptible to the negative effects of drug use. Specialized Xanax addiction treatment can help your teen if they’re struggling with this powerful drug.

Family First Adolescent Services offers help for teen boys 13–18 and their families. Our treatment team knows that teen substance abuse stems from deep-rooted emotional and mental health challenges and requires compassionate treatment. The adolescent substance abuse treatment programs at our South Florida center provide comprehensive care to help your son address their substance misuse and find a better way forward. Benzo Addiction Is Dangerous

One of the most dangerous substance use disorders involves benzodiazepines. The effects of these substances have depressive effects on the body and brain. Individuals can quickly become dependent on them as they seek the feelings of euphoric relaxation they provide.

When someone stops using benzos after they’ve become dependent, severe withdrawal can occur. Benzodiazepines like Xanax have especially dangerous withdrawal symptoms, leading to seizures and even death. Even after completing a detox program, post-acute withdrawal symptoms can linger for weeks or months, making it challenging to stay sober without professional help.

Benefits of Teen Xanax Rehab

It’s not enough for your teen to just stop using drugs. Xanax addiction treatment provides long-term benefits, including:

  • Learning healthy coping mechanisms
  • Addressing underlying mental health issues
  • Building a support network of peers and mentors
  • Developing academic and life skills
  • Gaining tools for relapse prevention

Without comprehensive, compassionate treatment, it can be challenging for teens to truly overcome Xanax addiction and live a healthy, fulfilling life.

Our Teen Xanax Addiction Treatment Center

We take a comprehensive approach to helping teens and families find a better way forward.

For Teens

During their time at our treatment center, teens work closely with a personal care team to ensure they are making progress. They check in every morning with a nurse and meet with a psychiatric provider at least once per week. Other members of our staff also engage with them through:

  • Therapy – Our counselors help adolescents discover the underlying challenges and emotions prompting their substance misuse. We use evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to teach coping skills, emotional regulation, and healthy decision-making.
  • Academic support – Our academic team works with teens to help them get on track and even get ahead in school. Individualized study tracks help them focus on graduation, college or career readiness, and professional development.
  • Experiential programming – Sitting in a classroom setting all the time is not engaging for teens. From paddleboarding to expressive art therapy, our clients participate in activities that help them develop new skills and find healthy outlets for stress.
  • Medication management – If a teen is struggling with co-occurring mental health conditions, which are common with Xanax addiction, our medical team can provide medication management to help manage symptoms.

Our clients stay in safe, secure housing at our South Florida center during their time with us.

For Families

Addiction affects the entire family, and we believe that healing and recovery should involve everyone. While teens are working through Xanax addiction treatment with us, we engage with families to help them build a healthier home life. Through regular family therapy sessions, support groups, and educational workshops, we provide the tools and resources for families to heal together.

Parents, caregivers, and referral sources receive communication at least three times per week and have access to our case managers 24/7 via text. Once teens complete treatment, we provide continued aftercare for at least a year.
